The First Year Leadership Programs (FYLPs) at Laurier are dedicated to enhancing student experience through activities aimed at building community. They are comprised of Residence Life Dons and LOCUS Off-Campus Advisors who are dedicated student leaders that work very hard throughout the year. The First Year Leadership Programs offered at Laurier include House Council, Arts Laurier, Diversity Council, Upgrade, Residence Athletic Council, Sustainability Council and the Inter-Residence Council.
There are many leadership positions exclusively available to first year students living in residence and those who are members of LOCUS. Each residence has its own House Council which plans and runs events in the fall and winter terms for the community. We also have Campus Councils that plan and run events for all first-year students living in residence or part of our LOCUS program. These are: Arts Laurier, Diversity Council, Sustainability Council, Residence Athletic Council, Upgr@de and the WLUSU Liaison Team. You, as a first-year student, have the opportunity to apply to the leadership positions on any one of the councils listed above. Your Residence Life Don or LOCUS OCA will publicize opportunities at the start of the year and keep your community informed.
