Residence Application Procedures for Graduate Students

A limited number of residence beds are reserved for single graduate students in the apartment-style residences.

To be considered for one of these single rooms in residence, students must submit a completed residence application together with the required $400 non-refundable deposit to the Residence Office no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday June 2, 2014.

All residence space reserved for graduate students is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and therefore you are advised to apply at your earliest opportunity, once you have been accepted into your program.

All students living in residence (dormitory and apartment style) are required to participate in a mandatory meal plan. Graduate students who are successful in obtaining a space in residence will be assigned the mandatory apartment style meal plan. Online Graduate student residence applications will be available from the Residential Services website in March. A $400 residence deposit must accompany the application. This deposit will be refunded only in the event that the applicant cannot be accommodated, or if the Residence Office receives written notification by 11:59 p.m. on Monday June 2, 2014 that the applicant wishes to cancel their application.

Applications for graduate spaces begin to arrive in April and May, and the limited number of residence spaces are usually filled by early June. Any additional applications received are placed on a "waiting list".

Similar to all undergraduate students, building and room assignments for graduate students are completed in June and notification is sent from WLU in the latter part of July 2014.

Graduate students may move into residence any time during the week after Labour Day, Monday September 1, 2014. Under no circumstances may graduate students move in earlier than this date.

Completed "Graduate Student Residence Application" must be received in the Laurier Residence Office (Waterloo campus) no later than 11:59 p.m. (together with required $400 deposit) to be considered for a space in residence.

Written cancellation of any residence application must be received by 11:59 p.m. in the Residence Office to qualify for a refund of the residence deposit. After this date, residence deposits will only be refunded in the event that the applicant cannot be accommodated.

Friday August 1, 2014


By this date you will receive notification of your residence building and room assignment.

Week following Labour Day (Monday Sept 1, 2014)


Graduate students may move into residence. Under no circumstances may graduate students move in earlier than this date.

Friday September 5, 2014 - Last day for graduate students to move into residence. After this date, your residence space will be cancelled, and may be re-assigned to another student.
