Laurier Health Services Testing
Health Services here at Laurier provides testing for sexually transmitted infections.
A STD screening can be facilitated by calling and booking an appointment with the doctor. It is recommended that you book an appointment because "walk in" visits are for unpredictable events such as colds, sore throats, UTI’s etc. In the event of sexual assault there is a community service available called the Sexual Assault Treatment Centre. The Centre, based at St Mary’s General Hospital, comprises a team of professionals, including nurses, physicians and social workers, specifically trained to deal with this complex situation. These services are available 24/7 and more information is available by calling 519-749-6994.
Although Health Services does not offer "anonymous testing" as at the Regional Health Unit whereby people are tested and given only an "id number", students can be assured that health services does provide confidential services. Expressed, signed, written consent is required to release any information to absolutely anyone other than the patient themselves.
