There are two styles of residence offered at Wilfrid Laurier University, apartment and dormitory style.

Students residing in dormitory style residence are required to participate in the mandatory Dorm style Meal Plan selected on the Laurier Online Residence Application Site.
(Meal plan A, B or C).

Students residing in an apartment style residence are required to participate in the mandatory Apartment style Meal Plan (Meal plan D).

Please review the Meal Plan information provided below so that you understand your participation commitment.  Please pay particular attention to the Terms & Conditions. 

 

Dormitory Style Meal Plans:

For students living in dormitory style residence you are required to purchase a Meal Plan and have a choice from the following plans (2011/2012):

 

  • Plan A (light)     $3,000
Please note: these totals are for the whole year (2 terms). You will are billed half for the fall term and the other half for the winter term (same as your tuition and residence fees). 
  • Plan B (regular) $3,300
  • Plan C (hearty)  $3,600

 

Please note: By agreement between Wilfrid Laurier University and the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union all residence students will pay a five percent levy on their meal plan to assist in the payment for capital upgrades to Food Service operations. 

 

 

Each Dormitory Meal Plan is divided into three accounts:

Prime - used for on-campus food purchases at the Fresh Food Company, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Library Café, Waterloo College Hall and King Street Café. You will receive a 13% tax savings when using these funds.

Alternative – used for any on-campus food purchase at Wilf’s and the Terrace (Pita Shack, Harvey’s, Pizza Pizza, Union Market & Williams). You will receive a 13% tax savings when using these funds.

 

Flex Food – can be used for food purchases on-campus and for participating off-campus partners.  You will not receive a 13% tax savings when using these funds.

 

Apartment Style Meal Plans:

For students in Apartment style residence you are required to purchase Meal Plan D.

 

        

Please note: this total is for the whole year (2 terms). You will

  • Plan D (apartment)   $1,200 

be billed half for the fall term and the other half for the winter term  (same as your tuition and residence fees). Meal Plan D consists wholly of Flex Food dollars that can be spent at all on campus and off campus food locations.

***Terms & Conditions***

 

All students in a dormitory style residence are required to purchase a Meal Plan and can modify their participation level commitment on or before the last business day in September for the fall term and on or before the last business day in January for the winter term.  Please review the Meal Plan Selector to choose the correct plan for your needs.

 

Students living in apartment style are required to participate in Meal Plan D.

 

Meal Plans are not eligible for any refunds or carry forward. 

 

Funds cannot be transferred between accounts.

 

Dormitory Meal Plans allow food purchases to be made at on campus food outlets to be tax exempt.  To make food purchases off campus, your Flex Food account will be used, however the food purchase will not be tax exempt.

 

For Non-food related purchases (such as photocopies, printing, taxi rides, Bookstore etc) you must add money on your Convenience Account. Meal Plans do not have an amount allocated to this account.  You can add money to your Convenience Account at any time by visiting the OneCard office during regular business hours, through our Automatic Deposit Machines, (ADM’s) or by visiting the OneCard Website *Minimum Convenience deposit is $5.00

 

All purchases made with the Convenience account are subject to appropriate taxes including food purchases made on and off campus.  Money in the Convenience account never expires, can be carried over from year to year and is fully refundable from May 15th to September 15th. Please request your refund through email (onecard@wlu.ca) and be sure to include your name and student ID number.

The OneCard cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages at any time. 

 

The One Card can be used to pay for taxi service, but ONLY through the Convenience Account.

If an account holder has dietary concerns or other restrictions that make it difficult for the account holder to fully utilize the meal plan, then it is the account holder’s responsibility to contact the OneCard office as soon as possible.  Failure to contact the OneCard office will be noted if any special consideration is requested later in the year regarding Meal Plan participation. Consultation will be arranged with Food Services Management and our consulting Dietician where deemed necessary.

 

Changes to meal plans are the sole responsibility of the account holder (student). For security purposes, the OneCard staff can only discuss or make changes to an account with the account holder in person. The consent form used by the Business Office does not apply to the OneCard Office or its services.

Account holders must abide by all other OneCard policies governing the use of the OneCard.

 

 

The Meal Plan program is currently being redesigned for the fall of 2012. This will involve a significant change to the account structure and format. Please be aware that any reference to Meal Plans that currently is found in publications or websites is related to the current year (2011-2012).

Detailed information will be available on this Website before the deadline for residence applications (June 1, 2012).
