Learning Services support and enhance students' academic experiences at Laurier. These services range from supplemental instruction for traditionally difficult courses, help to improve mathematical and writing skills, help studying for exams, improving time management, dealing with stress issues and special needs accommodations. Most of these services are delivered in small groups and individual consultation settings and are designed to encourage the sharing of ideas and peer learning.

These services are designed for all students who want to improve their academic achievement in the classroom. The five units work cooperatively and collaboratively to deliver programs that will help students achieve specific learning outcomes.

• Accessible Learning Centre

  • The ALC is available to all students with physical or learning disabilities (either permanent or temporary) for learning support and accommodations.

• Central Academic Advising Office
  

  • The Central Academic Advisor can assist students identify academic resources, understand academic rules and regulations, and prepare for graduate and professional schools.

• Mathematics Assistance Centre

  • The MAC aids in the transition from secondary to university level mathematics through workshops and homework sessions.

• Study Skills & SI Centre

  • The SSC assists students to further develop their study skills and learning strategies to assist in transition from secondary to university academics through various academic mentoring programs.

• Writing Centre

  • The Writing Centre offers individual consultations and group workshops to aid students with their academic writing and critical thinking.

All services offered through Learning Services are free.
