Mumps vaccination information. |
|
4 out of 5 young adults born between 1970 and 1991 are not fully protected against the mumps because they did not receive the 2 vaccines required.
There has been a recent increase in mumps activity across the province.
Who is this important to?
· anyone who has had a friend, classmate, roommate or someone they may casually know who has had mumps in this last school term
· people born after 1970 and before 1992 because this cohort may
have missed the second dose to effectively immunize against mumps.
· people immunized outside of
first dose of mumps vaccination before the age of 12 months or vaccine which was not properly refrigerated.
For information about mumps and vaccination recommendations please see:
http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/mumps/
Health Services has vaccine available and will offer it to anyone who has
never been immunized for mumps or needs a second dose of vaccine. Immunization available between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
