Mumps vaccination information.

Mumps update:

4 out of 5 young adults born between 1970 and 1991 are not fully protected against the mumps because they did not receive the 2 vaccines required.

There has been a recent increase in mumps activity across the province.

Who is this important to?

·         anyone who has had a friend, classmate, roommate or someone they may casually know who has had mumps in this last school term

·         people born after 1970 and before 1992 because this cohort may
have missed the second dose to effectively immunize against mumps.

·         people immunized outside of Canada who may have received the
first dose of mumps vaccination before the age of 12 months or vaccine which was not properly refrigerated.
