Training resources & Workshops

As part of Laurier commitment to accessibility for persons with disabilities, the University has gathered and created a variety of resources to educate and assist its community; these resources are aimed at helping improve the quality of customer service on campus.  It is important to remember that in our formal and informal interactions with members of the Laurier community, each of us has a role to play in fulfilling this commitment.

By law, each person who interacts with students, alumni, visitors, or retirees is obligated to know the requirements of the AODA’s Customer Service Standard and communicate with persons with disabilities in a manner that takes the person’s disability into account. Please review the resources included on these pages to help you understand these obligations and requirements. Also, if you have not attended the mandatory 1 hour AODA training for all Laurier representatives, please attend one of the following sessions:

  • Monday, March 28th @ 9:00am in 2C16 (Arts Building)
  • Tuesday, March 29th @ 10:00am in STM 125 (St. Michaels)
  • Wednesday, April 6th @10:00am in 2C16 (Arts Building)
  • Thursday, April 7th @ 1:00pm in DAWB 2-108 (Dr. Alvin Woods Building)

The Diversity & Equity Office is committed to providing inclusive programs and services to all. Please contact Dana Gillett at dgillett@wlu.ca or at 519-884-0710 x4469 if you require an accommodation due to a disability.
