Leave The Pack Behind

Leave The Pack Behind

At Laurier

http://www.LeaveThePackBehind.org

Leave The Pack Behind is a smoking cessation initiative, which is funded by the Government of Ontario and Health Canada. At Wilfrid Laurier University, the Leave The Pack Behind team is a group of committed students working hard to serve the needs of students, faculty and staff who want to quit smoking, cut down, or learn more about tobacco and nicotine. Look for us on campus promoting the services that we have to offer through public and interpersonal outreach such as classroom presentations, media, and booth displays.

We focused on ways to encourage and support people in their choice to quit, cut down, and to not start smoking. One very effective way in which we reach students is through our annual contest ’ Would U Rather.’ The contest runs from January to March, and so be sure to keep an open eye for more details to come. The contest will be promoted through posters and the student newspaper.

Throughout the school year, feel free to approach us at our booth in the concourse. Everyone is welcome! Whether or not you are a person who wants to quit or cut down your smoking, or you are a person who simply wants to talk or access our information and resources, then do not hesitate to visit us. You may also visit us at our office located in The Student Health and Development Centre located across from the Dining Hall.

For more information about the Leave The Pack Behind program, visit our website at www.LeaveThePackBehind.org or e-mail us at LTPB@wlu.ca

Leave The Pack Behind (LTPB) is a project funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and by Health Canada to provide information about smoking and appropriate support to post-secondary students at Ontario’s university and college campuses. The name for this program has been adopted, with permission, from the World Health Organization’s 1999 World No Tobacco Day campaign.

2010-2011 Team Members are Kendra, Michelle, Lavana, Tara, Aimee and Sanders.
