Performance Coaching

In addition to traditional counselling for personal issues, Counselling Services offers individual coaching sessions and workshops to enhance student performance in academics, athletics, music and other areas.

Performance Coaching sessions are collaborative and goal-specific where the focus is on gaining insight and using strategies that are fine-tuned to the unique challenges of your situation. Topics include: managing performance anxiety, motivation, goal-setting, procrastination, concentration, confidence-building, perfectionism and mistake recovery.

Pre-performance planning sessions are available for confidence-building before a performance. Enhanced performance may be the essential ingredient to ensure better results under pressure in the exam room, in front of the class, on stage as a musician, or on the athletic field!

Additionally, we offer Pre-performance Planning Workshops for music students, developed specifically for the performance challenges that musicians face. The focus in these workshops is on managing performance anxiety and fine-tuning "mental skills" to attain peak musical performance.

Any student interested in performance coaching must first attend an intake appointment.  These appointments are 30 minutes in length.  The primary purpose of the intake appointment is to identify the student’s current issues, and to provide an understanding of the situation so that the student can be matched with an appropriate counsellor.
