Counselling Services

Welcome

Counselling Services is here if you are having trouble coping with stress, are feeling distracted by personal or emotional problems, or simply need to talk.

Our services are free of charge for all Laurier students.  However, students who miss or cancel an appointment without providing 24 hours notice may be charged a $20 fee payable before booking their next appointment (exceptions may be made for cases of the flu, illness, etc.).

Trellis-Laurier Eating Disorder Information Session, Monday January 23 and Monday February 6, 2012.

Important Announcement Regarding Intake, Crisis and Counselling Appointments:

Counselling Services is experiencing an unprecedented demand for services from students, impacting our ability to respond as we would like.

Counselling and the VP Student Affairs are working closely with WLUSU, GSA and community groups to explore all options to address this need and to attempt to increase supports available to students.

In the meantime, please be aware of the following:

Walk-in Intake Appointments:  There are a limited number of walk-in appointments available each day, so students are strongly encouraged to arrive early to access an intake appointment (i.e. 8:30 a.m. when the office opens).  Once all intake appointments have been assigned for the day, students will be asked to come back the following day and try again.

Walk-in Crisis Appointments:  There are a limited number of crisis appointments available each day, and while every effort is made to accommodate students in crisis, some students may need to be referred off-campus to Crisis Services of Waterloo Region or Grand River Hospital when all of our available counsellors are booked.

Counselling:  Once a student has completed the intake process, there may be a longer than desired wait until their first appointment with a counsellor (at this time approximately one month), due to all counsellors being fully booked.

Your feedback and concerns may be directed to counselling@wlu.ca.
