ALC Week! Feb 2- Feb 4th!

Laurier’s Accessible Learning Centre is presenting the Fourth Annual Disability Awareness Week!

Come by the Torque area (Second Cup area) Tuesday February 2, and the Concourse Wednesday Feb 3 and Thursday Feb 4th from 10- 2 to learn more about disabilities, community agencies and services offered by the ALC!

Learn more about what the ALC offers students including the Note-Taking Program, Tutoring Program, Student Support Program, Learning Strategies and Assistive Technology.

Community organizations including the March of Dimes, The Independent Living Centre of Waterloo Region, Peer Help Line, The Canadian Hearing Society, The Canadian Mental Health Association and the CNIB will be at the event to answer any questions you might have! See you there!

Come by and talk to representatives from these organizations on these days from 10am to 2pm. Come by any of these days to pick up information and materials from these organizations if you can not make the day they are here.

 

Tuesday:

Canadian Hearing Society (they would especially like to encourage people to consider becoming an American Sign Language interpreter, find out more at the booth!)

Providing information:

ADD/ADHD society has provided a very detailed book for us to hand out about ADHD.

Counselling Services has handout about their programs

The Ontario Blind Sports Association has information about adaptive sports in our community.

And remember, you can get information and materials from all our guests any time we are in the concourse.

 

Don't forget, we are still doing free Braille labels and demos of some our super cool tech stuff every day.
