Awareness Campaigns |

·
These following campaigns are ABS’ method of sharing and educating the surrounding community about issues that affect young Black adults in today’s society. An awareness campaign can include everything from inviting guest speakers to campus to deliver a talk to film screenings to showcases and demonstrations. Some examples of campaigns we’ve hosted include:
S.T.O.P. Campaign – Our S.T.O.P. (Students Together Opposing Prejudice) Campaign is held to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination which is on the 21st of March. At this event the Laurier community takes time to remember the importance of equality within human kind as well as take time to remember those who have been subject to discrimination of any kind.
Health Awareness Campaign – Each year ABS selects a health issue that pertains to the black community with the intent of educating our members and our community so they may be more conscious of the harms that are posed towards themselves as well as others. This initiative also serves the purpose of raising funds to help those affected by the issue while also providing funds to further research.
